World Bank API first
This prototype starts with World Bank open data because it offers a clear API structure and broad coverage of demographic, health, nutrition, expenditure, and environmental indicators.
Each category page fetches annual PRK values only when the user opens that category, so the home page remains simple.
Source comparison later
WHO, UNICEF, WUENIC, IHME GBD, UN DESA, FAOSTAT, and WFP sources should be added as separate modules. Major indicators should be compared across sources rather than shown as a single unquestioned number.
Curation principles
These principles should guide the official version of the hub.
Show source, indicator code, unit, release year, and download date wherever possible.
Distinguish observed, reported, modelled, and imputed values when the source allows it.
Use consistent units and tidy data structures for comparison across sources and countries.
Explain missing data, sparse series, implausible values, and uncertainty clearly.
Make cleaned CSV files available for researchers and students.
Use clear charts before complex dashboards. Interpretation should remain readable.
