How the hub handles data
Keep the source visible
Each series retains its provider, source code, unit, population definition and retrieval date. A provider is not necessarily the original producer.
Preserve missing observations
Missing values are never converted to zero. Empty responses and failed requests are different states. Charts leave gaps between non-consecutive years.
Compare like with like
Country comparisons use the same provider and source code. Comparison bars use a common observed year whenever possible. No interpolation is applied.
Respect uncertainty
Source-provided lower and upper bounds are preserved and displayed when present. Interval levels are not assumed. Annual modelled estimates are not annual surveys.
Preserve a usable snapshot
Saved data remain available when a source cannot be reached. Refresh failures do not erase the last successful dataset. Exported rows identify their retrieval dates.
Version information
Dates and release identifiers are recorded when supplied. Where a release is unknown, it is explicitly marked as unspecified. Snapshot data may differ from later source revisions.
